How it plays

Small armies. Clever formations.

Every round has two halves. First you build: buy, place and rotate. Then you let go, and your legion fights it out on its own.

  1. The shop row with a hand full of bought cards: an Undead Dragon, a Phoenix, a Balrog and board items

    Draft

Buy formations from a shop that changes every round. Every card is a block of soldiers with a shape: a wolf pack, a line of bone archers, a goblin horde, a legendary dragon.

  2. A 195-unit board in the preparation phase, with red and green trait cells around the formations

    Place

Fit the shapes together on your board. The red cells around a formation share its signature trait with whoever stands in them, and items radiate auras over the units around them.

  3. An undead legion and a wild host meet in the middle of a meadow

    Battle

Press Start and the fight plays out in real time against another player's saved army. Win, adjust your board and go again. Three lives, ten wins.

Placement is the puzzle

One tile can decide a battle.

Slide a goblin horde into a Fire Elemental's red cells and every goblin sets its target ablaze. Let a Warg cover your wolves and they heal with every bite. Rotate a formation and the same units make a different army.

  • Farmers learn to shoot

One connection shares Ranged with all twelve farmers.

  • Rotate to connect

It fits, but shares nothing. Turn it, and it does.

  • Poison your archers

All eight hunters inherit Venom from one neighbour.

  • Stack to unlock

Three sources of Ranged turn a line of archers into a Volley.

Asynchronous PvP

Fight real players' armies

Every round you face a ghost: the exact board another player fielded at that round, matched to your rating. Nobody has to be online at the same time, so you never wait for an opponent.

  • A ranked ladder with tiers and placement runs
  • Practice runs with the same matchmaking that never touch your rating
  • Your own saved armies keep defending while you're away
Two enormous armies lined up across a meadow, more than a thousand units in total

Scale

Hundreds of tiny soldiers

Boards grow from a handful of units to legions of hundreds. Battles play out in real time with knockback, poison clouds, raised skeletons, chain lightning and leaping wargs.

Over a thousand units can share the field at once, and every one of them is doing its job.

Legendary units

Draft a legend

Beasts, undead, goblins, dwarves, elementals and more, topped by legendaries that change how a board plays: a Balrog with a fire whip, a Phoenix that won't stay dead, an Undead Dragon, a Spider Queen.

Units that survive battles become veterans, so the army you keep matters as much as the army you buy.

Battle reports

Know why you won

After every fight a report shows how the battle swung, and which formation dealt the damage, soaked the hits and kept the line alive. Then you go back to the board knowing exactly what to fix.

Choose your commander

Two commanders. Two ways to win.

FAQ

Questions

What kind of game is Little Legions?

A pixel-art auto-battler about building an army. You draft formations, fit them together on a grid so their traits spread to their neighbours, and then the battle plays itself. All of your decisions happen before the fight starts.

Do I play against real people?

Yes, asynchronously. Each round you fight the saved army of a real player who reached the same round, matched to your rating. Nobody has to be online at the same time, so there's no queue.

How long is a run?

A run ends at ten wins or when you've lost your three lives. Finished runs settle your ladder rating. Practice runs use the same matchmaking and leave your rating alone.

Which platforms is it coming to?

Windows PC, on Steam. You can already try a demo on itch.io.

When does it come out?

There's no release date yet. Wishlist Little Legions on Steam and Steam will email you the moment it launches.
